  History

The Junior Usher Board (as it was once called) was formatted in October 1962.  This formation took place under the leadership of Pastor Emeritus Bright.

Mrs. Frances Pierce-Gray was chosen as President because of her love for children.  She served as Senior Advisor until 1996, working closely with Christian women such as  Mrs. Eva Burnette, Mrs. Alma Clemmons, Mrs. Charlotte Bolden, Mrs. Deborah Brunswick, Deaconess Rosa Young, throughout the years.

Under Mrs. Gray’s leadership, Ms. Anita Green served as an Usher as well as a Teen Advisor to the Ushers.  Pastor Bright, as well as Mrs. Gray, prepared Anita for a leadership position.

From 1996 to present, Ms. Green has been the current Senior Advisor, and she continued to work closely with Christian women such as Deaconess Betty Singleton, Ms. Theresa Chestine, Deaconess Deborah Brunswick and late Deaconess Rosa Young.

The name Junior Usher Board was changed to Youth Usher Ministry under the current leadership of Rev. Dr. Myron D. Barnes, Sr., and is a part of the Youth Ministry headed by Ms. Robin Travers.
