Purpose/Mission Statement: The mission of the Harvest Team is to reach the unsaved with the gospel message of Jesus Christ. To share the love of God with all our neighbors, through the power of the Holy Spirit and to present Jesus Christ as the solution to a sin-sick soul and to offer genuine friendship, membership, fellowship, education, and service opportunities through the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church.

Scripture:  Luke 10:2 “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few:  pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.”

Meeting Day/ Time/Location:  The Harvest Team Ministry meets on an as needed basis in the Conference Room

 History

Our mindset is to leave the confines of our church building and actively engage our neighbors in brief conversations about what they think about Jesus Christ and what Jesus Christ has done for us.  We want to take the gospel message of Jesus Christ to our neighbors in a spirit of love and genuine concerns for the lost.  Our presentation method:  Is to keep both our message and approach extremely simple:  God’s plan of salvation is not complicated. No drawn out theological debates or heated exchanges should take place.  It is a distraction from our primary mission.  Use theRoman Roadas our basis for presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a loving, friendly, caring, non-threatening, non-self righteous manner:

    • Who is good?                                Romans 3:10
    • Who has sinned?                         Romans 3:23
    • Where did sin come from?          Romans 5:12
    • What is God’s price for sin?        Romans 6:23
    • Who paid the price for sin?         Romans 5:8
    • How do I received God’s gift       Romans 10:9-10
    • How can I be sure I’m saved       Romans 10:13

Harvest team members will cheerfully greet and engage our neighbors as they pass by the church.  Using the 3 large wooden crosses located in the church ask if they have a moment and ask a few questions opening an opportunity to present/give them information pertaining to the Gospel.  If a “no thank you” is received offer a free gift (wooden cross keychain/Bethany token) and a tract, also offer an invitation card and wish them well.  If the opportunity to share the Gospel presents itself ask “What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you look at the cross?”  One team member can ask questions while the other record answers.  The goal is to briefly discuss theRomans Roadscripture verses above and present the opportunity for our neighbors to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.  We want to do our best to be patient, friendly, clear, and brief.  No Long Speeches, Long Life Stories or Argument.  Remember to only ask for a “moment of their time.”  Even if the person decided not to receive Christ by engaging them a seed have been planted and the Holy Spirit as well as our prayers will do the rest.
