 History

Rev. Alpheus L. Bright, who organizational wisdom concluded in 1960 that an umbrella organization was needed for all the clubs in the church.  This would be a forum where all the Clubs, Boards and Auxiliaries could share their mutual concerns and mission.  The membership of the Church adopted Pastor Bight concept.  From its beginning, this council has consisted of the President, Vice Presidents, Secretaries and Chairpersons of every organization in the church.

Sister Bernice Davis was appointed by Pastor Bright to become interim President, and was later elected by the church to be the official President of the All Club Council.  Miss Bernice Davis was an excellent choice, as she is strong “Christian Organizer.”  Her leadership yielded successful projects that allowed Bethany to grow in many ways.

In 1999, Sister Vivian Marshall Drayton was asked to assist Sister Davis.  Sister Davis had to decrease some of her activities and Sister Drayton was asked to fill in with the assistance of Sister Robin Travers and Sister Mary Baxley.

Upon the arrival of Rev. Dr. Myron D. Barnes, the emphasis was upon ministries being distinct and set apart from clubs; the name was changed to All Ministries Council.

Upon the home going of Sister Bernice Davis, Sister Drayton has been maintaining the Council.  In recent years, we have tried to encourage ministries to consider joint programming.  We are one in Christ.  We also encourage ministries to reach out to new members and use them to the glory of God.  We continue to ask ministries to plan ahead, pray before and after each meeting, have an agenda, communicate, support each other, and remember that Pastor Barnes must approve all programs.
